Living abroadIELTS Fees in Kazakhstan and How Payment Works
The IELTS fee is set by British Council or IDP in Kazakhstan, paid at registration and covers all four sections; retaking any section means paying the full fee again unless you specifically use One Skill Retake.
Who sets the price
The fee is set by British Council and IDP for the Kazakhstani market specifically, in tenge and can change over time. Always check the current published price on the official registration page rather than relying on a number you saw a few months ago.
What the fee includes
One payment covers your seat for all four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, plus your official Test Report Form. There's no separate charge per section for a standard first sitting.
Extra costs to budget for
If you request Enquiry on Results (a re-mark of your paper), that's a separate fee, refunded only if your band actually changes. Rescheduling or cancelling close to your test date may also carry a fee or forfeit part of your payment, so check the cancellation policy before you book.
Paying as a minor or through an agency
If you're under 18 or booking through an education agency, confirm exactly whose name and documents are on the registration, since the test centre will check this against your ID on test day, not the agency's paperwork.
Frequently asked questions
Can I pay in a currency other than tenge?
Domestic registrations in Kazakhstan are typically priced and paid in tenge; check the specific centre's accepted payment methods.
Is the fee different for Academic vs General Training?
Historically the fee has been the same for both modules, but always confirm the current price for your specific module when you register.
Do I get a refund if I cancel?
Refund policies depend on how far in advance you cancel; late cancellations are often only partially refunded or not refunded at all.
